Na pátek 31.3. byla naplánovaná naše čtvrtá výsadba se společností Pure Storage. Nejdříve přišla zpráva, že přijde více než 30 dobrovolníku, poté, co podle předpovědi mělo pršet, přišel dotaz, zda-li by se sázení nemohlo přeložit na jiný termín, že by nemuselo přijít hodně lidí. Naše čtvrté sázení jsem tedy nazval „dříve, než začne pršet“. Plán byl začít dříve, abychom vše stihli před deštěm, který byl hlášen někdy k poledni. Mé obavy ohledně počtu dobrovolníků vzaly záhy za své. Navzdory počasí dorazilo neuvěřitelných 32 lidí! Začali jsme sázet od silnice směrem k party stanu, aby motivace a hrozba byly jasné - občerstvení versus černý mrak a déšť. Fungovalo to skvěle. Než bys řekl „chvilku po poledni“ všichni byli v party stanu, začali se zaslouženě občerstvovat a kapky deště začaly bubnovat do stanu. Závěrečné společné foto se tedy neudálo u posledního stromku, jak je obvyklé, ale s rozradostněnými tvářemi z party stanu. Dobrovolníci z Pure Storage posilnění a spokojení chodili, že by chtěli sázet znovu a ať je toho více než nějakých 52 stromků, že je to málo... Slíbil jsem, že jim to na podzim umožním - výzva přijata! :-)

Our fourth planting with Pure Storage was scheduled for Friday, March 31st. At the beginning we received word that over 30 volunteers were coming, and then, due to the forecast of rain, there was a suggestion to reschedule to another date as many people might not come. Therefore I named our fourth planting "Before the Rain Starts". The plan was to start earlier than usual so that we could finish before the rain started, which was expected around noon. My concern about the number of volunteers was quickly dispelled. Despite the weather, an incredible 32 people showed up! We started planting from the road towards the party tent, to make the motivation and threat clear - refreshments versus dark clouds and rain. It worked out great. Before you could say "afternoon," everyone was in the party tent, enjoying well-deserved refreshments and raindrops started drumming on the tent. So, the final group photo didn't happen by the last tree, as usual, but with happy faces in the party tent. The volunteers from Pure Storage, energized and satisfied, kept saying they wanted to plant again and that 52 trees were not enough. I promised them another planting in the fall - challenge accepted!
