Volume 5 - Když se rodí nová cyklostezka
V pátek 20.10. jsme se již popáté sešli s dobrovolníky z Pure Storage. I navzdory nevlídnému počasí dorazilo úctyhodných 29 lidí + dítě. Za úkol jsme měli vysázet 60 ovocných stromků podél nově budované cyklostezky. Sázeli jsme rozličné odrůdy hrušní, jabloní a slivoní, vesměs šlo o původní odrůdy. Po úvodním zahájení pronesl krásnou řeč starosta obce p. Rezek, který kromě poděkování zmínil, že si obec velmi váží toho, že se podílíme na obnově krajiny a vracíme jí původní tvář. Slíbil, že se obec o nové stromky bude zodpovědně starat a poté jsme se s chutí pustili do sázení. Hned zpočátku nějaký silák zlomil dřevěný kůl, ale pak šlo vše již jak po drátku. Po zhruba 2 hodinách byla očekáváná pauza na čaj a výborné, dalo by se říci již legendární brownies naší koordinátorky Radky. Nikdy nezbyde ani drobek... Po závěrečném, společném focení a zatlučení cedulky se všichni rozjeli k místní, malebné hospůdce, kde na nás čekalo občerstvení (řízky, guláš a pražská šunka). V příjemné atmosféře a při přátelských hovorech jsme vše snědli a pomalu se rozešli.
S Pure Storage to bylo již 5. sázení v regionu Dolnobřežansko. Po dnešním sázení jsme zde vysázeli celkově 253 stromů a 35 keřů! O stromky je dobře a s láskou pečováno. Děkujeme Pure Storage za finanční dary i dobrovolníky, kteří nám pomáhají sázet a osobně pak Silvaně! Udělali jsme zde v krajině hlubokou a krásnou brázdu. Není nic krásnějšího, než odpoledne odcházet z pole, polní cesty a vidět vysázenou alej a vzpomenout si, jak pusté a holé to bylo jen před pár hodinami... Staré řecké přísloví praví: „Společnost prosperuje, když staří muži sází stromy, i když neužijí jejich stínu...“.
Má to smysl.
Volume 5 - When a New Cycle Path Is Born
On Friday, 20th October, we gathered for the fifth time with volunteers from Pure Storage. Despite the ugly weather, an impressive 29 people plus a child showed up. Our task for the day was to plant 60 fruit trees along the newly constructed cycle path. We planted various varieties of pears, apples and plums, mostly native species. After the initial opening words, the mayor of the village, Mr. Rezek, gave a beautiful speech, thanking us and emphasizing how much the village appreciates our contribution to restoring the landscape to its original beauty. He promised that the village would take responsible care of the new trees and then we eagerly got down to planting. At the beginning, some strong man broke a wooden stake, but after that, everything went smoothly. After about 2 hours, it was time for a well-deserved tea break and the legendary brownies made by our coordinator Radka. Not a crumb was left. After final group photos and putting up a sign, everyone headed to a local pub where refreshments awaited us (schnitzel, goulash and Prague ham). In a pleasant atmosphere with friendly conversations we enjoyed our meal and slowly said our goodbyes.
This event was the fifth planting session with Pure Storage in the Dolnobřežansko region. With today's planting we have planted a total of 253 trees and 35 shrubs here! The trees are well taken care of with love and attention. We thank Pure Storage for their financial donations and the volunteers who help us plant and especially Silvana! We have made a deep and beautiful furrow in the landscape here. There's nothing more beautiful than leaving the field and country roads in the afternoon, looking at the newly planted avenue and remembering how barren it was just a few hours ago. An old Greek proverb says: "Society grows great when old men plant trees, the shade of which they know they shall never sit in." It makes sense.
